Allie and Trevor are a young, smart, sweet couple that have been in love since college. I first met them this past October, while my team and I were setting up another wedding at a venue that they were touring with their parents. How very fortuitous for both of us, wouldn't you say? I loved them immediately and we ended up meeting for coffee at a local haunt within the week to go over ideas for their winter wedding in January.
Allie loved lush, organic floral arrangements in rich deep burgundy, plum, and marsala, with touches of dusty pink mixed with lots of foliage, and textural elements like succulents. We started off talking about her bouquet. This was her inspiration that she shared with me that she had found on Pinterest:
I loved all of the large, lush blooms, texture, and tonal cascading ribbons mixed with the hanging amaranthus.
They dreamt of taking their vows under a 4 post birch or aspen arbor, with their aisle lined with decorative floral and foliage swags, like the ones pictured below:
Then she showed me her centerpiece inspiration, which had a lot of the same elements:
And, yup, I was in LOVE!!! I tuned into the garden roses, peonies, and spray roses in this image along with the metallic compote (footed bowl). I sourced similar vessels for their arrangements and kept my fingers crossed that I'd be able to get some Chilean burgundy peonies, which would just be out of season on the other side of the world, for the wedding. And guess what, I did get some, but in all honesty, the garden roses ended up stealing the show. That's what happens sometimes. You think one flower is going to be the showstopper, but another one arrives looking drop dead gorgeous, and you have to go with it, because you'd be stupid if you didn't.
They had chosen Aspen Hall at Shevlin Park as their venue, which is a pretty raw space, so they wanted to dress it up as much as possible to give it the same rich, warmth that they envisioned. There's a massive lava rock fire place that anchors the whole space, so they requested that we create some form of floral installation to give it some love.
My team and I were positively giddy about this wedding. We couldn't wait to create all of these fun elements and bring their vision to life. I ended up partnering with my good friends at Wallis Creative who happily designed and built the exact arbor that Allie had asked for. I love having such an awesome group of friends, creatives, and fellow vendors who are always happy to tackle whatever it is that I throw at them. :)
