How cool would it be to have an intimate bridal shower with all of your besties in a super cool location, featuring your own private yoga instructor, delicious catered spa appetizers, inventive desserts, signature cocktails, and lots and lots of flowers? Uh, yeah. I'm down! Well, that was the idea behind this whole styled shoot that a few of us collaborated on creating this month.
My friend, newly engaged artist Ciera Rose was our bride, and her close friends Amanda, Zayza, and Natalie were her bridesmaids. The ladies were outfitted in all of their fine yoga apparel by Pine Mountain Sports, which we chose because they have the best selection of athletic apparel in town, hands down, plus their staff is super nice and helpful. Their hair and make-up were artfully done by Lori Tompos of Edge Hair and Make-up on location at Armature. All photos are courtesy of super talented photographer Erica Swantek.
At first, I hadn't planned on making bouquets for Ciera and her friends for this shoot, but after discussing Cynthia's plans for her class, I loved her idea to include flowers on her altar and then got a little carried away from there. As you can see, our color palette was jewel tones, so I chose flowers, foliage, and textural elements that were complimentary to that and could create a lush, organic, bohemian bridal bouquet, along with some simpler funky bridesmaids bouquets. We loved the idea of using them to decorate each of their mats and to make each girl feel loved and exceptional, as only flowers can. :)
I made a simple symbolic installation for the wall, of flowering quince branches. 1 for Ciera, our bride, and the other 3 for her beautiful friends Amanda, Zayza, and Natalie.
Stephanie and her team at Twist Cocktail Catering were inspired by the theme of this shoot and created a refreshing trio of signature cocktails for the ladies to enjoy. After all, what could be better than a yoga practice with your BFFs, but a cocktail with them afterwards? ;)
And now on to the party portion of our bridal shower... This was super inspired by all of Peanut's Gallery's vintage rentals. Kimi created the table settings, built the low table, food table (made out of a door and vintage sewing machine stands!!!), and also put together a whole lounge area with some of her favorite pieces from of her curated collection.
I had fun with this table, as you can tell. :) I wanted to create a tablescape that wasn't about a centerpiece, but rather about decorating with the blooms and petals of flowers. Using their colors, shapes, and textures to create a visual impact. Painting with flowers, if you will. ;) I think it adds a sense of modern bohemia to this table.
To decorate the food table I chose to use single stems of one of my favorite flowers, fritillaria imperialis, at the back of the table in vintage clear glass milk bottles and then I repurposed the bridesmaids' bouquets at the front to bring in some of the jewel tones of the rest of the event.
We made the bridesmaids flower crowns for the party and decorated Ciera's hair with flowers so as not to take away from the beautiful braid that Lori had given her.
